Well I think this is a first for me. Which is surprising given how much I enjoy nosing in other people's craft spaces! I am linking up with Julia here in the spirit of doing some different crafty things this year. This is my desk today! This is the desk in my weeny indoor crafting space I carved out for myself in 2014. It measures just 1m x 2 m and is in the old larder of my house. You can see how narrow the space is by the width of the A4 folder open on the desk!
My desk is currently occupied with my newly completed ink swatch folder. I am something of an ink pad addict as you may be able to see by just some of the ink pads in view. These are also lurking just out of shot! There are more down in the Craft Shed too (they are probably currently frozen!) Yes, I know I have a serious problem with this addiction of mine!
I have used the cold weather of the last week as an excuse to stay near the fire and make up and stamp these ink swatch cards using the idea developed by lovely Jenifer McGuire who must be the queen of craft room organisation! I have had these coin pocket folders for about a year, but finally I got to work on over the course of the last week.
The reason my desk is currently filled with my lovely folder is not just that I need to stroke it, but also that I am busy choosing inks for a colour challenge for the newly renamed Seven Hills Crafts blog this month. This is the new name for one of my favourite craft companies Make the Day Special.
I have included a few pics of the pages below while I bask in the pleasure of a job really well done (I won't bore you with them all!). It was quite a task as I have over 350 pads of different shapes and sizes. I have yet to index my rainbow pads so the job is not quite complete, but that will need a bit of a different approach.
Hope you are finding a nice cosy place for your crafting in the current cold snap!

Oh my goodness 350 of them - anything in colour sequence is incredibly alluring I find and I could become seriously addicted to collecting them if I had a folder like that to fill up! At the moment I have about 12 ink pads and I'm struggling to fit them in the drawer now! You have utilised every inch of your space beautifully, it must be a real pleasure to work in such organised surroundings. Thanks so much for stopping by my desk earlier, I hope you have a good week and get the rest of your colour swatches done!

Lovely to see you and share your probx
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I have come across someone with as many inkpads as me, lol. The last head count I did was full sized pads only, and that came to 352. I didn't include all my cats eye/dewdrop type ones. It gave me quite a shock to discover how many I have, but I have to say, not a single Stampin Up pad amongst them!Love the swatch book, must go and have a look at her video for them.Have a great week, Hugs Shaz #16xxx
ReplyDeleteLet me try that again! lOvely to see you and share your problem...you're in good company, although I think you might be the winner in terms of numbers. How wonderful a space your larder has become, I bet during the cold that you spend many happy hours in it. Your colour swatch is amazing...desperately well organised, am very impressed!
ReplyDeletewow Elaine, that was a job and a half ! I really need to organise a small space for me somewhere in the house, all of my things are currently in boxes until I can put proper storage units in the dining room somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI love all your ink pads. Colors make me happy. Good job on the swatches. And welcome to WOYWW.

Wow. You do have a lot of inks! What a great idea for a craft room. It helps having your own space, doesn't it?

Happy WOYWW. Firstly, your collection of inkpads is truly amazing. Secondly, your organisation and storage are also truly amazing. I had to stop myself buying more craft stash, as I definitely have a tendency to get addicted to collecting. Now, I rarely ever buy anything. Ali x #45
ReplyDeletewowza, 350 inkpads, you must one practically every inkpad in the world lol. I should finish off labeling my stamps. Vicky#66
ReplyDeleteGreat to see the pictures of your ink swatches Elaine, they look great in their colour families, a treat for the eyes! It is always lovely to see your craft cubby, so organised, I would never dare to show my craft room in its muddled state!!! Judith xx
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, you have more inks than most of the craft shops I visit! And all so beautifully stored and catalogued - it makes me want to come over and play!

Hi Elaine, thanks for sharing photos of your cozy craft space. Oh my 350 ink pads makes me smile. We all have various collections, don't feel alone. Looks like you are enjoying the colours, the binder of swatches looks amazing. Cheers, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are inspirational - what a fabulous idea and how neat and tidy that is. Of course you still have a lot to go by the look of it - I thought I had a lot of ink pads but I think you beat me hands down.
ReplyDeleteHugs and thanks for your visit whilst I was nurse maiding.

You certainly have aq lot of inks - great way to organize them. Happy WOYWW - and thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised you're pleased with the fruits of your labours - those swatches just make one want to turn the pages & keep ogling. The arranging into colour families is a feat of organisation in itself. Your ink pad storage is so efficient & I can see that you're really at home in your space.
