Wetlands birthday card

I recently treated myself to three stamp sets from Stampin' Up, including the Wetlands stamps. This is one of my first cards with that set.

I had seen lots of cards on Pinterest made with these stamps and rather liked the torn edge effect. I started with some hot pressed watercolour paper and used my Peerless watercolour paints to add some background colour. I then stamped the birds and grasses stamps. It is a while since I stamped this card, but I think I used brown and grey inks for the images.

I added some more torn layers in handmade mulberry paper and Co'redinations card and then mounted the whole lot on a black A5 card blank. I finished off with the sentiment stamped on more watercoloured paper and finished off with three little gems.

I really love these stamps and look forward to making good use of this set.

By the way, if you missed my post on our shared blog, please do pop over and have a look here We are all making accordion book projects and this is mine, using another of  my Stampin' Up purchases.

Thanks for popping by!

  3. I like the way your gems balance the pennant greeting & your black card base works exquisitely with the aqua colours plus that little pop of ochre sand. The grey stamping is so much subtler than if it had been done in black & suits the idea of non permanence intimated by the tide & the waders.

  4. Both cards are beautiful, the effect of the ripped card stock works so well with the image on the top one. I hope you are doing well, it's been extremely busy here. Take care, Shirleyx

Of course, you already know how much I love your gorgeous concertina book.
