A sympathy card

Sympathy cards are always so hard to make. I always feel they should be quite simple, but they also need to be special.

This one took me a while to get just right. It is a masked sun with clouds sponged over the edge of a nestie scalloped shape in Cherry Blossom and Lilac Paris Trunk inks with a hint of Dried Marigold DI. The sentiment is a simple one from Personal Impressions by Paula Pascual from a very useful set. The main image is a flying goose die cut using a lovely Memory Box die cut out of purple card. The matting is in shades of lilac and purple and I deliberately left a wide white border to balance this design.

Another murky picture I fear!

I am embroiled in frantic Christmas card making, but batch making is help a lot and I am up to about 30 now, so pleased wth my progress so far!

Hope you are having a good weekend

  1. This is beautiful & I love your use of the purple for the die cut. Your white border is so effective & I love the hints of sunshine coming through - the imagery of walking through the clouds of sorrow & coming back into sunshine at a later time is beautiful.

  2. Hi Elaine, your sympathy card is quite beautiful and elegant. I love the effects of the clouds, you are clever to use a scallop die, it's great. The background is beautiful for the flying goose. Have fun with the Christmas cards! Hugs, Shirleyxx

  3. Elaine that is such a beautiful card for such a sad occasion and I think Paula put so eloquently the feeling portrayed within it.

  4. This is a very lovely card Elaine. The colour of the sky is beautiful, with the Dried Marigold scattered through the clouds. Simplicity often is far more effective than an over the top card with too much of everything, especially for a sympathy card. The main image is perfect, love Judith xx
