Snuggly Pixies

This is a card I made recently for a friend to show I was thinking of her. It uses a lovely new stamp called Star Gazing from Lavinia, plus an old favourite sentiment from a Kaisercraft clear set.

I bought the stamp at Ally Pally and kept it on my craft desk until I actually used it for once! I love those little hats, they are like something from the 1950s best dressed toddler wear catalogue! If they weren't silhouettes I reckon these little ones would be clothed in hand knitted garments! I expect my Mum still has a suitable pattern in her Woman's Weekly archives!! So cute and nostalgic.

The image and sentiment are stamped in black Versamark. The stamps around the edge are a mixture of Lavinia and Inkylicious grasses. The butterflies are Lavinia again. The background is inked with some Tumbled Glass DI, definitely some Denim Adirondack dye ink, plus something I can't remember! The wings have a little stickles on them.

I am currently being serenaded by a late black bird as the day draws to a close, it is competing with Katie Melua . It is a rather lovely combination!

Hope you are all planning something nice this weekend. Let's hope for a little sunshine. My heart needs a little lift I think, although our apple blossom is just starting to burst through which always makes me feel brighter, it is so beautiful.

  1. Super combination of blues with the black & I really cannot get over the glow you achieved around those little pixies. The grasses & scenery are delightful. We've had crows digging up our back garden - nest material gathering great big beakfulls of moss. Still it means there will be less moss for us to deal with.

  3. How lovely! gorgeous stamps beautifully used. Worryingly I can picture the very knitting pattern you are referring to! I believe there was a pink and a green version on the front (My Mum was an amazing knitter and had hundreds of patterns) Unfortunately her, her mum and her sisters all failed to teach me to knit with any skill, as I am left handed and they were right handed.

  4. I am the oh so lucky recipient of this beautiful card and I am looking at it as I type. I think it's going to be on my mantlepiece for weeks as I love it so much and it will be treasured. I too can picture the hats you refer to Elaine, but then I'm older than the rest of you so I wouldn't be surprised if I actually got to wear one of them, lol!

    Thank you so much Buddy.

  7. Well, here I am playing catch up! This is such a sweet little card, I remember those hats too, my Mum used to knit them, and make my little Brother model them. He had curly hair, and everyone thought he was a little girl, ha ha! Ooops, Sisterly love there. Anyway, I love the colors of this card, and the foliage framing the little duo. I caved in and bought those Kaisercraft stamps this weekend, as they are so useful. Judith xx
