This week three new gorgeous spring floral stamp plates have been released over at Chocolate Baroque - see them here.
I used the rose tree stamp for this card. I embossed the tree onto dark green card in gold and painted the leaves with a green mica based reinker. I cut out the tree with a large oval cutting die. I restamped the tree canopy onto white and embossed with a ruby EP and coloured the roses with a red mica reinker. I then cut out all the roses and decoupaged them onto the golden tree.
I mounted the panel onto a gold background. I am very fussy about gold card. I am not very keen on mirri card, instead preferring this pearly gold effect that reminds me of laqueur. I found this card in a huge sheet in Paperchase in Tottenham Court Road. I love that shop, but I have to restain my urges as you could spend a fortune there!
I finished off with some fine flourishes die cut using a Sizzix die which is very fine and rather fiddly, but is worth the effort.
Do pop over to the DT blog to see what we have all been up to with these stamps, dreaming of spring.

This is really beautiful Elaine and must have taken lots of patience cutting out the roses and removing those corners from the die (know what that's like, lol). I don't use mirri very often either, it always seems too brash to me but the pearl is lovely.

This rose tree looks stunning Elaine, it looks gorgeous on the green background. I love the pearly gold card as well it finishes perfectly. It would look wonderful in a frame on the wall.

this is a real beauty with the gold on the green & the detail of decoupaging the ruby embossed roses makes such a difference to the whole for the roses are really distinct from the gold trunk & branches. I love the cleanness of those swirls & your embossing. I'm still using up some mirri so it tends to come out when I'm matting for thin borders but I much prefer the satin/silky/pearly finish. I've ogled your project with breakfast & must admit if I could eat artwork I would rather than food - much more satisfying, especially when it's of this calibre.

Gosh what a labour of love cutting out those little roses. Well worth the effort though because this is beautiful.
ReplyDeletehow beautifully detailed
ReplyDeleteElaine, I loved this card when I first saw it, because it has a very vintage feel with the green and the old gold. I'm right there with you regarding gold card. I'm not a mirri card fan either, only using it on the odd occasion when it simply has no other substitute.
ReplyDeleteThe swirls are a fabulous touch, and the roses really are lovely, a gorgeous colour, adding a real warmth to a stunning card.
