Home Sweet Home

I wanted to make a quick new home card for a friend recently. I bought this stamp at Ally Pally and thought it would be great for quick cards. I was wrong though, it was one of those stamps that just did not want to stamp properly!!!

After about 10 attempts I got a mostly decent image, which I set about ink shading with Distress Inks. Once I had done it, it looked a bit dull, so I cut out some elements, including the door and shaded them separately and in some different colours.and stuck them in place and was pleased with the result. I fussy cut the edges and then mounted on a panel I had stamped with the Stampin' Up Hardwood stamp and then rubbed over with white pigment ink to give a softer impression.

Hopefully next time I try with the stamp it won't be such a battle to get a good image.

Hope you have a good weekend.

  1. Some stamps are a pain in the rear end to get a good impression where you need a solid black. You did end up with a lovely card in the end though so hats off for your perseverance! I was involved in a conversation about stamps like this not do long ago although cant remember who with. I think the advice was to ink up with Archival and don't clean the stamp afterwards .... something I find really hard to do, lol, then when you ink it up again it works much better. I haven't tried it yet though.

  6. Absolutely gorgeous, Elaine! Great colours! Defintely worth all the effort. Deby at Inkylicious has been experimenting with different ink pads and found Memento Luxe is really good for a very black clean image. I got one and have to agree.
