I made this card by sprinkling some of the Brusho powder crystals in red, turquoise, yellow and green across some Fabriano Ecological paper. Then, I sprayed quite liberally to get the colours to spread. This process takes quite a while to finish and I found that my experiments passed some of the best effects as the spreading continued, so I would recommend drying gently with a heat gun to preserve a stage you really like. I am still learning!
I finished my card by matting onto black and adding Hollyhock die cuts from an Impression Obsession die, a black gem swirls and words stamped using a Stampavie Suzi Blu set I treated myself to this week.
I am delighted to say my Blog Candy surprise also arrived from Australia from Darkroom Door following their brilliant joint blog hop with Art Journey stamps. I really enjoyed the samples I saw on the blog hop using stamps from two of my favourite companies, so this parcel was a real bonus!
Thank you Rachel for such a generous prize, I can't wait to get inky with these lovely stamps. In the meantime though, I have something else taking my attention! My new tiny art studio, all 1m x 2m is nearing completion and is currently this blank canvas!

Getting to this stage has required lots of emptying, cleaning, stripping old wall paper and stuck down hideous carpet and paint and repainting and wallpapering. It has been hot work in there in these last few tropically hot days! We are now at the exciting stage of adding colour and equipment. It may only be a tiny space, but I have big ideas for it and will report on progress very soon!
I am off to pick the first blackberries for a blackberry and apple crumble tonight. There is something special about the first blackberries of the season! Whatever you are doing I hope you are having a lovely weekend and keeping as cool as you can.
Elaine

love the vibrant colours Elaine, they look very interesting but I`m not giving in to something else new ! need to use up what I already have. It is a bit too warm for me at the minute here. Have a lovely weekend x Lavinia
ReplyDeleteLike your experiment with brusho...I bought some Bister some weeks a go but haven't tried it yet - you've given me the push to give it a go now.
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing the room completed.
Fascinating to see this - I love the little touches of blue & how your black swirls lead the eye to them - plus the Hollyhock die cuts. The contrast of the bright colours with the classic black & white is superbly effective. The Darkroom Door prize looks a super bundle & I'm looking forward to seeing how the little studio works out.

lovely Elaine - have tried out my new brushos, and was stunned at the vibrant colour, have to admit I ended up with a sheet of card under the tap, as the water spray was drying too quickly! Have had out first blackberries yesterday in apple and blackberry crumble, delicious - and am looking forward to seeing your finished art space
ReplyDeleteLove this, Elaine. The Brusho colours are so vibrant, aren't they? I had been wondering what the difference was with Bister, so thanks for that info. I'd like to get hold of some Bister so I could compare the two side by side. I'll be very interested to see your finished craft space. I thought my old craft room was small (6' x 7') but that's about twice the size of yours! Mind you, I managed to do all I wanted in there, just had to store my stash throughout the rest of the house!

Your card has turned out beautifully! Glorious colours and you already know I love that die ;-) My Brusho set arrived on Wednesday but heaven knows when I'll get to play with them. It's been too hot to face in my craftroom for weeks so I'm barely managing the things I have a time schedule for let alone playing. I think I'm about the only person for whom Autumn can't come fast enough, lol!
ReplyDeleteWell done on your blog hop candy win too! That's a nice selection of stamps you have there.
Hugs
