An engagement card

I seem to struggle to keep up with blogging these days. Here is a simple engagement card I made recently for our niece.

It's another 8 x 8 card. I used the Indigo Blu Love Is stamp for the main image, embossed in silver detail powder and matted onto silver and grey, with a nice swirly backing paper, some ribbon and a couple of tiny heart charms. Seems pretty basic, but like many simple designs it took a while to get it the way I wanted it!

Spring is springing nicely here, although today has been wet and grey. It's nice to see some lovely spring blooms along the way, like the first flowers on a camelia that was a gift last year when we tortoise sat for a friend.

These flowers are my favourite delicate white daffodils. I think this variety is called Thalia.

Hope you have all had a good Easter break and lots of chocolately treats!

  1. Elegant & stylish with those lovely ribboned heart charms to embellish as well as the gems. Sometimes the simpler something is the more difficult it is to execute. I too love all the different types of Daffodils at this time of year - our lilies are emerging & I shall have to wage war against the lily beetles. Grey & dull here too - hope you've had a good Easter too.

  2. I agree with Paula, simplest is not easiest! After all, there's nothing to hide any mistakes with so it has to be perfect and this card sure is my friend. I love that image with the delicate swirls and it's beautiful done in the embossing.

Thanks for sharing your lovely photos too. We moved my Camelia last year, probably at the wrong time and I don't think OH covered the roots properly either so it's looking decidedly unhappy now. I'll give it till next year to see if it recovers and I do hope it does because it was a beautiful white one with pinky/red petal edges We're getting ready for some new daffy bulbs too as most of ours have gradually been destroyed or inadvertently dug up. Many of them have only had leaves this year too :(

  4. Very elegant card - often the 'simple' ones are the most trouble to make. Thanks for sharing the lovely flower pictures to cheer up a dull weekend - sun is shining this morning (typical).

  5. Hello Elaine!
A beautiful card, that stamp is perfect for an engagement card isn't it!

Love love Camelias. And those fragile Daffs look gorgeous. I'm going to keep an eye out for those in the Autumn when the bulbs are sold.

I did raise a smile on hearing about your favour of tortoise sitting...what a great job lol...

  8. Simple is quite often best, and your card is lovely Elaine. The heart charms are a great touch on the ribbons, and the colour scheme is very pretty. I love those white daffodils, I might have to look out for those, they are very unusual. Judith xx

  9. Hello Elaine,
Your engagement card is so romantic in silver and white! Love it!
The flowers are blooming here too. Yesterday my first rose bloomed and brought me much joy : )
Your white daffodils are totally amazing! I don't think I have ever seen a more beautiful daffodil.
    Hugs,
    Terri
