I have a few days off as well as the long weekend and I am letting myself craft every afternoon after doing other chores in the morning. Today I decided to have another inky play and this is the result.
I wanted to try and create a ripple effect that I had seen elsewhere. It didn't quite work as I hoped and will need more practising, but I was happy with the card I made in the end. I cut a number of concentric circles with my Martha Stewart circle cutter and then used these as masks while adding different colours of blue and turquoise ink with Cut n Dry foam and my new ink duster brushes, Tumbled Glass DI, Sailboat Blue, Stonewashed and Pool Adirondacks . I ended up with a bubble rather than ripples! Then I added the Lost Coast dancer silhouette stamp available from Happy Daze and added Tim Holtz and Inkylicious bird stamps, all in black archival ink. I have used these stamps together before, but I like the way they work together!!
Around the edge of the bubble I stamped Viva flourish stamps in turquoise. I added the happiness word with a Hero Arts stamp, again in black. To finish, I shaded the edges with Pool and Denim Adirondack dye ink. I matted the panel onto black.
I am off until Thursday, so I am looking forward to more afternoon play sessions.

beautiful colour and a great composition of stamps
ReplyDeleteAnother stunning card. I just love that image and she works so well with the birds. Hugs x Chris B
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I think you did a fabulous job on this, even if the ripple effect didn't happen like you hoped. I am trying something new this weekend too and loving it, but as you know, working it out as I go along!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Hugs,
Terri
Elaine beautiful. Great colours and composition. I have made this stamp by myself and know how fun it is to do. My compliments.

This is lovely Elaine. I agree it probably does more resemble a bubble but it's still extremely effective and the blues are gorgeous. The dancer image is beautiful and one I've not noticed before (probably a good job, lol, or it would have been on my wish list).

This is so beautiful, Elaine! I love the blues - you managed a whirlpool type effect. Fab stamp too
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous card Elaine. No matter that the ripple effect didn't work, the bubble effect is fabulous! Love the birds around the dancer, a great mix of stamps. The colours you have used are stunning, Judith xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning effect you have achieved using all these blues and the stamps are just right together too. Looking forward to seeing more from your crafty afternoons. Enjoy your break.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Elaine - it may not be a ripple, but it is a perfect bubble, reminds me of the bubble-blowing kits that used to be around for children (and others!), especially with the lovely blues - and the dancer can double as a fairy
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine, although I am out on holiday, sometimes I am still blogging at the pc of my mother in law. Saw your gorgeous 'dancer' and she is so lovely. The effect of the 'blue's'are also very beautiful! Do you know where you saw the'ripple'effect? I am curious about that, warm greetz, Mirandaxx
ReplyDeleteMiranda - this is one of the places I saw the ripple effect http://zindorf.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/2008/06/25/isc-leaf-in-pond-tutorial/
